After 6 long years, the release in near! For those who haven’t seen Winds of the North previously, a short break-down:
Winds of the North is a 1-player sandbox campaign game, a cross between a settlement-building game and a survival adventure game. You begin with a small farm, some silver, and a few starting animals. Your only real goals are to survive and somehow become a Viking King or Queen. Along the way, you are free to do just about anything you want. Here are some of the things you’ll be able to do:
- Fish
- Hunt
- Adventure over land and seas
- Plant and harvest crops
- Gather wood and ore
- Expand your farm
- Craft items
- Hawk goods and items at local markets
- Deliver orders to distant market towns
- Attend seasonal festivals
- Go raiding
Your Character
Your character has 5 Skills which wil be put to the test.
- Combat: Your ability to fight in armed combat or mock battles and wrestling.
- Survival: Your skill in exploring over land, foraging resources in the wild, and crafting.
- Farming: Your skill in working the farm, from crops to building to managing livestock.
- Seamanship: Your skill governing sailing and fishing.
- Wisdom: Your knowledge, creativity, and leadership.
Medieval Hardships
A major aspect of the game is keeping yourself and those under your command alive. Winters are harsh, food can run short, meat spoils, people of your household and your livestock can get sick, and anyone, including you, can die. The Viking Age is an unforgiving period and only the strongest can survive.
Early Access Demo
The short version is that I’ve been working on Winds of the North for 6 years, and it’s almost done, but the publisher would like to see if there’s enough interest in a solo game of this size (over 250 pages for the full game). So, to gauge interest, I present to you an early access demo. Every download helps!
You have access to the first two seasons of the year in your campaign, most activities, and a selection of encounters and events. More than enough to get a feel for the game and see what it has to offer.
You can leave any feedback, questions, etc. here or by email, whatever you prefer.
